A Gift for Grandma // Family // Victoria BC Family Photographer

Back at the beginning of February, I had a joint session at Beacon Hill Park with two families who wanted to give Grandma the gift of family photos for her birthday. What a wonderful present! I've photographed the H's and F's before but had never met Grandma, so it was a special session for me as well. The sun graced us with its presence to the delight of the kiddos who had been housebound for the few stormy days leading up to our session. With 7 kids under 10, things can get a bit wild, but it's such a joyous wild that you can't help but smile and have fun too.

Andrea // Winter Beach Session // Victoria BC Photographer

Andrea contacted me in January to see if I wanted to collaborate on a photo shoot and we ended up planning an end-of-winter beach session for late February. We both wanted something with a west coast island feel, and chose the the beach along Dallas Road, between Clover point and Ross Bay Cemetery, as a location for its mix of hardscape and naturescape. The blankets and mugs of tea were perfectly suited to the overcast day, and we had a lot of fun getting creative and experimenting with posing and spots along the water. Andrea brought her dog, Cooper, and he even got some portraits taken (y'all know I can't resist pups!). Here are a few of my faves from our session.

Makeup Artist: Andrea Graves / Nail Tech: Nailed Again / Tea: David's Tea / White Mug: Drake General Store / Glass Mug: HomeSense/ Blue Mug: Bolen Books

Jennifer and Daniel // Engagement Session // Victoria BC Family Photographer

I've known Jennifer since middle school and was so excited for her when she and Dan got engaged. When she told me she specifically wanted a feminist wedding photographer and asked if I'd be interested, I immediately said yes.

Between the unpredictable Victoria winter weather and them coming over from Vancouver, it took us a while to have their engagement session,  however our afternoon at Island View Beach was perfect. There was lots of laughter and cuddling as they told me how the ring Dan proposed with was passed down from his great-grandmother, and how his mom had stealthily attempted to find out if Jen liked the ring or not at a family dinner. We ended the session with some hot tea on the beach, just as the skies started to open and the rain came down.

I can't wait for their wedding at Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse next year!
